Allergy Free Pillows

Spring is in the air here at Pacific Pillows and for me that means a stop by my local drug store for allergy medicine. I never had allergic reactions to anything as a child, just that one day my eyes were itchy and watering. People do develop allergies over time, others have had to understand and take precautions since childhood.

A question we address frequently from customers is about the hypo-cleaned or allergy free down that is offered by Down Etc. and Pacific Coast is how that natural product can be allergy free. The short answer is the companies put any material that goes into their products through an eight stage wash/rinse process to remove as much allergy causing dirt and dander and possible. This process does remove a great deal of allergens but we also say to take additional protective steps by adding pillow shams and protectors as well.

We also try to offer our customers that have down/feather allergies a wide range of allergy free synthetic options that can be extremely soft to very supportive. Synthetic pillows are almost always 100% of one type of material which makes avoiding allergens very easy. Pillows like the Conformance Supreme are cotton poly-clusters (think small cotton balls); others such as the Brentwood Gold are long polyester fibers. The Angel Soft is actually a blend of micro fiber strands and clusters that attempt to mimic down.

For people that have allergies to some synthetics as well as down/feather we have a 100% natural latex pillow that offers comfort and comes with a cover to keep possible allergens out of the air while you sleep.
