            Whether it is a popular trend or sign of a long term commitment to protecting our environment, green products are entering the marketplace at an astonishing rate.  While using recycled and renewable materials is not completely unheard of in the textile industry, many bedding manufacturers are researching technologies that will allow earth friendly pillows and comforters to be introduced to the consumer in the near future.

            Bedding manufacturers have also become increasingly aware that many consumers are demanding bedding that is friendly to those with various allergies.  Unfortunately, the selection available to persons looking for allergy-free pillows or comforters has traditionally been somewhat limited and many consumers have had to shy away from the product that best fits their sleep profile in favor of a less comfortable product that addresses their allergy concerns.

The fill in the Martex Eco-Pure Pillow is made from recycled plastic bottles.  The fill in the Martex Eco-Pure Pillow is made with nearly the same process that is used to manufacture fleece. The Eco-Pure Pillow’s synthetic blend feels soft like fleece. Ultimately, you get a feel that is similar to what you would expect from a high quality down alternative pillow.

            For customers that prefer to use renewable resources we suggest our lineup of pillows with silk filling.  Though relatively new in the United States, silk filled pillows have been a staple of luxury in many eastern markets for years.  The Comfort Deluxe Silk Pillow is filled with 100% natural silk.  Silk is a great fill for pillows as it is moldable and offers tremendous support.  The Comfort Deluxe Silk Pillow is also a wonderful alternative for those with allergy concerns because it contains none of the down/feather dander or synthetic material that may cause a reaction.

            Even down and feather companies take steps to ensure that customers to not have allergic reactions to their products.  All Pacific Coast Feather Company products are “hypercleaned.” Hypercleaning is an 8 step wash process that removes a lot of dirt and dander allergens from the down and feathers used to fill pillows. The hypercleaning process makes items like the 50/50 White Goose Down Pillow manufactured by Pacific Coast Feather Company that much more safe and comfortable.  While this process does remove a great deal of allergens, we advise that you take additional protective steps by adding pillow shams and protectors to all of your pillows. Pillow shams and protectors will help prevent allergic reactions, protect your pillows from wear, and help improve the ambiance in your bedroom.

            Many manufacturers of pillows filled with synthetic material also market products that are comfortable and allergy free.  Before you start shopping for a pillow it is key that you recognize your specific needs in terms of sleep style, allergy concerns, etc. and you look for a pillow that perfectly matches those needs.  A Micro Fiber Pillow may be soft and allergy free, but if you are a side sleeper you would likely want more support like you might find in a Comfort Deluxe Silk Pillow.
